Provost’s Awards Reception
Congratulations to Dr. Ryan Kilmer on winning this year’s Provost’s Award for Community Engagement!
UNC-Charlotte recognizes the importance of establishing collaborative relationships of reciprocity and trust with community partners. Faculty “engagement” refers to scholarly, creative, or pedagogical activities conducted in partnership with persons and groups outside the University. Such activities respond to our community’s most pressing economic, political, and social needs. The Provost’s Faculty Award for Community Engagement honors a tenured faculty member whose teaching, research, and sevice records embody the University’s commitment to civic involvement, and whose work profoundly and systematically strengthens the relationship betwenn UNC-Charlotte and the larger community.
Dr. Lori Van Wallendael accepted the Department of Psychology’s award for Excellence in Teaching!
Outstanding teachers are dedicated to helping students gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Excellence in teaching requires a commitment to learning that encourages students to be better thinkers and thoughtful actors beyond the boundaries of the classroom. The Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching is granted to an academic department, office, or program to recognize the collective responsibility of faculty for maintaining high quality teaching, and for efforts that improve student learning and outcomes.
